2026-09 Family Picnic

On Saturday Sept. 19th – starting at noon – the Club will host its annual Family Picnic at the Butler Farm.:  452 Pine Tract Rd.
ALL  ARE WELCOME!   The event is a chance to gather with fellow club members, family and friends.  
Spread the word!

The picnic starts at noon.  Food and drink will be provided.  (Eating around 3:00)  We ask that you bring a covered dish or dessert that can be shared.. 

If you think you will attend, we would appreciate help in getting an estimated headcount so if you could let Tracy Heyl know of your desires to attend…  Tracy can be reached at:  gtheyl@zoominternet.net

Also, if you are able to assist in the planning or execution (setup / cleanup) of this event and earn service time that can be applied towards Active Member status, just let us know.   

2026-09 Hunter-Trapper Safety Course 

The Club will be hosting a Hunter-Trapper Education program on Sat. Sept 12th at the club.  The program will run from 8:30am to 4:30pm.   This event is open to ALL persons ages 11 years or older and so, please, feel free to tell anyone you know who might be interested in this program.  This is a six-hour training class required by law for all first-time hunters and trappers before they can buy a license.

Registration is required.  As soon as we have an online link we will provide such. 
(Day-of walk-ins may be allowed depending upon the number of folks pre-registered.)

If you’d like to help out with preparations – setting-up the club for the event – folks will be meeting the Friday evening before the event.  (Note: Any such setup time goes towards fulfilling your service requirement time for Active Member status.)

Dave Lewis has also asked that if anyone is interested in becoming an instructor that they contact him or Tim Nicotra and they will assist in getting you the necessary training.  The Club could really use additional instructors so PLEASE consider such.  Dave or Tim can give you all the details so please feel free to contact either of them at the contact info provided above. 

In Memorium: Ernie Castello

It is with great sadness that we report long time member Ernie Castello passed away on Friday. For many years Ernie was the club Secretary, and his sense of humor will be missed at meetings.


Ernie will be received from 12:00-3:00 on Thursday August 6 only, at King Funeral Home in Allison Park, PA. Please think of Ernie and keep his family in your prayers.

Kids Can Fish Returns – August 1, 2026

Join the Kids Can Fish Foundation at the Richland Sportsman’s Club’s Butler farm for a day of youth fishing and family fun. Each registered child will receive a FREE Zebco fishing rod and a goodie bag with fishing gear! This year we will focus a bit more on techniques, rigging, casting, and conservation. Lunch will also be provided!

Hunter-Trapper Education April 11, 2026

Due to a lack of registrants, the Club has been forced to cancel its Hunter-Trapper Education program which was to be hosted at the clubhouse on Sat. April 11th

Please be advised that a Fall session has been schedule.  The date for that one:  Sept. 12th.   More information on that event as it approaches.

The Club will be hosting a Hunter-Trapper Education program on Sat. April 11th at the clubhouse.  The program will run from 8:00am to 4:00pm.  This is a six-hour training class required by law for all first-time hunters and trappers before they can buy a license.  You must pass a certification exam at the end of the class to complete the training. 

Lunch will be provided.

IMPORTANT – Online registration is required.   CLICK HERE for online registration – available at the PA Game Commission Upcoming Events web site.

2025 Christmas Party

Once again, Santa Claus is coming to town! (And to the Richland Sportsmen’s Club!!!)

ALL ARE WELCOME to the Club’s Annual Christmas Party on Sunday Dec. 14th starting at 1:00PM – going until… ???   Please sign-up so we have a good idea of how many folks to plan for.  Let us know if you’ll have kids attending so Santa can plan for that accordingly. Gun Range Closures

The Club’s Board has recently decided to ‘officially’ close the Butler Farm shooting ranges DURING CERTAIN HUNTING SEASONS.  The closures will be published on our Calendar, and are:

October 18th to the 25th 

Nov. 29th to Dec 13th 

Dec. 26th to Jan 29th 

2025 Turkey Shoot

Sunday November 9, 2025 11am-?? (probably 2 or 3) at the Richland clubhouse

ALL ARE WELCOME – Public welcome – No age limit – Young and old
