Once again, Santa Claus is coming to town! (And to the Richland Sportsmen’s Club!!!)

ALL ARE WELCOME to the Club’s Annual Christmas Party on Sunday Dec. 14^th starting at 1:00PM – going until… ???   Please sign-up so we have a good idea of how many folks to plan for.  Let us know if you’ll have kids attending so Santa can plan for that accordingly. The Club’s Board has recently decided to ‘officially’ close the Butler Farm shooting ranges DURING CERTAIN HUNTING SEASONS.  The closures will be published on our Calendar, and are:

October 18^th to the 25^th 

Nov. 29^th to Dec 13^th 

Dec. 26^th to Jan 29^th 

Sunday November 9, 2025 11am-?? (probably 2 or 3) at the Richland clubhouse

Take aim at the Lucky X paper plates and if your aim is good (and you’re lucky) you could win a turkey (or other prizes)!   Thanksgiving is just around the corner.

(Note:  The Steelers game is in the evening so… And if folks are interested in other games the clubhouse TV can be tuned into that action.) 

The annual Buck Pool resumes tonight through the end of the season. Entry is $10, see any club officer or join us at a monthly meeting.

On Saturday Sept. 13^th – starting at noon – the Club will host its annual Family Picnic.  This event will take place at the Club’s recently purchased new property at the Butler Farm.  (452 Pine Tract Rd.)
ALL  ARE WELCOME!   The event is a chance to gather with fellow club members, family and friends.

The picnic starts at noon.  It is open to all Club members and they are welcome to bring family and friends. Food and drink will be provided.  Though we ask that you bring a covered dish or dessert that can be shared.. 

If you think you will attend, we would appreciate help in getting an estimated headcount so if you could let Tracy Heyl know of your desires to attend…  Tracy can be reached at:  gtheyl@zoominternet.net

Also, if you are able to assist in the planning or execution (setup / cleanup) of this event and earn service time that can be applied towards Active Member status, just let us know.  

On Saturday Sept. 6^th – 8:0AM until 3:00PM – the Club will be presenting its Fall Hunter-Trapper Education class.  The program will run from 8:00am to 4:00pm.  This is a six-hour training class required by law for all first-time hunters and trappers before they can buy a license.  You must pass a certification exam at the end of the class to complete the training. 
Lunch will be provided.

IMPORTANT – Online registration is required.  CLICK HERE for online registration – available at the PA Game Commission Upcoming Events web site.  
Day-of walk-ins will be allowed as long as pre-registration is not full.

NOTE:  SPREAD THE WORD!!!  This event is OPEN TO EVERYONE ages 11 years or older and there is still some time to sign-up (or walk-in day-of) so, please help spread the word.

If you’d like to help out with preparations – setting-up the clubhouse for the event – folks will be meeting the Friday evening before – probably around 4:30 to begin event setup.  Feel free to just stop on by the club at 4:30 or preferably contact Rob, Tim, Dave or John to confirm and coordinate such efforts.   (Note: Any such setup time goes towards fulfilling your service requirement time for Active Member status.) 

The 2025 BUCK POOL WINNER was Bill Retsch.  Bill takes home $250!

The Club is looking for any member interested in becoming a Range Safety Officer.  

A Range Safety Officer is a person who ensures the safe operation of a shooting range. The Range Safety Officer designation is associated with the NRA and “[t]o become a NRA Range Safety Officer, you must pass the RSO course and demonstrate that you possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.”  Classes are held locally, like an upcoming one at The Northside Sportsmans Association in Warrendale. 

Currently the Club has only two such officer and so we would like to add others to that rank. If you are interested in such and willing to take the necessary “nine-hour course [that] consists of classroom time and practical exercises conducted on a range”, please let us know. 

If you are currently an NRA member, that would be ideal, as such is required to take the course.  But if not an NRA member, please don’t let that deter you from considering this.  The Club board (and subsequently a Club membership vote) will consider paying for not only the course but possibly for the necessary NRA membership (again, if you’re not already an NRA member).

On Saturday Aug. 2nd – from 10:00AM until 2:00PM – the Richland Sportsmen’s Association will sponsor a Kids Can Fish Foundation ( kidscanfish.net ) fishing event at the Butler farm property / lake. (The Club’s recently ‘rejuvenated’ lake.)

ALL are welcome to this (FREE) event. (Obviously its a youth-oriented event.) Each registered child will receive a FREE Zebco fishing rod and a goodie bag with fishing gear! Lunch will also be provided.

This is the first time the Club has hosted a Kids Can Fish event so let’s try to promote it as best as possible.
